"I have been using Homeblown foam since they started
and have always been impressed with their attitude and innovation. The blanks are as good as any and certainly a lot stronger." - Johnny Purton, Shaper

"Back in November of ‘06 we tested — informally — all the blanks available here. Homeblown was the only MDI. The test was to make identical boards off the machine with identical glass jobs and then ride them. We measured attributes like weight, whiteness, durability, and feel in the water. As far as Homeblown goes, the Homeblown MDI foam was actually the whitest of them all. The weight was really interesting — the Homeblown blank was the heaviest blank to start but when the board was finished it was the lightest overall. The very tight cell structure just used a lot less resin in the lamination than the others. The shapers said it was a little more difficult to shape but felt the board looked the best when finished. Using the board was harder to measure and it was hard to say if we were liking the shape in the water or the materials but riding the Homeblown board seemed to have good flex but with a snappy memory and no mushy feeling at all. Afterwards we looked at the boards to see dents (damage)and its hard to say exactly what went on there because one person surfed differently than the other guy or took a bad wipeout. So things were not really controlled, but the Homeblown board seemed to have had the fewest dents, actually none really." - John Dahl, Shaper@Green Valley Mill

"I have been using mostly Homeblown and King Mac foam. While doing the trade shows recently and having boards made from both it was really clear that, with them side by side the Homeblown was so much better. The tight cell structure made the boards look much whiter and you couldn’t see the sparkle look of the open cells of the other. It actually looked like the foam was sprayed white because it looks so uniform. I sold a guy from New Jersey two long boards just over a month ago and he has been riding them here locally for the past month. The guy got old school Hansens. He also said he is a knee paddler. Last week he brought the boards back in to ship to New Jersey and we were outside taking off the wax before packing them up. We were both surprised to see that after a month of knee paddling the board didn’t even have a dent on it." - Craig Hoffingsworth, Shaper
